BECU Membership Eligibility

Opening a free account with BECU means joining our credit union and becoming a member. Currently, anyone who lives, works, worships, or goes to school in Washington state can qualify and may be eligible for BECU membership. Residents of select counties in Oregon and Idaho, as well as members of partner associations are also eligible.

Eligibility Requirements

Membership is free and starts when you open an account. See if you qualify through one of the following criteria:

Washington state and select OR and ID counties are eligible for BECU membership.

Washington state: All Counties

Oregon: Benton, Clackamas, Columbia, Deschutes, Lane, Linn, Marion, Multnomah, Polk, Washington and Yamhill Counties

Idaho: Benewah, Bonner, Boundary, Clearwater, Idaho, Kootenai, Latah, Lewis, Nez Perce and Shoshone

Employees of BECU, Boeing and credit unions are eligible for membership.

BECU

  • Employee, volunteer, or retired employee of BECU
  • Employee of any organization in which the credit union has an ownership interest
  • Family member of someone above

Boeing Company

  • Employee, volunteer, or retired employee of Boeing or its subsidiaries or affiliates
  • Federal employee stationed at a Boeing company plant
  • Family member of someone above

Credit Union

  • Employee, volunteer, or retired employee of a credit union
  • Family member of someone above

  • University of Washington Alumni Association (UWAA) member, employee, volunteer or retiree.
  • Washington State University Alumni Association (WSUAA) member, employee, volunteer or retiree.
  • GoWest Foundation (formerly NW Credit Union Foundation) member, employee, volunteer, or retiree.
  • KEXP donor/member, employee, volunteer, or retiree.
  • Sea Hawkers Central Council (AKA Sea Hawkers Booster Club) member or donor

Not a member of one of the above associations? No problem! You can join online with UWAA, WSUAA, GoWest Foundation, KEXP and Sea Hawkers.*

Business owners who meet the following criteria are eligible for BECU membership.

All business owners who are associated with and meet eligibility requirements related to the UW, WSU, NW Credit Union Foundation, KEXP or the Sea Hawkers.

Business owners operating in Washington state

Business owners operating in Oregon counties of: Benton, Clackamas, Columbia, Deschutes, Lane, Linn, Marion, Multnomah, Polk, Washington and Yamhill

Business owners operating in Idaho counties of: Benewah, Bonner, Boundary, Clearwater, Idaho, Kootenai, Latah, Lewis, Nez Perce and Shoshone

*Family members include the following, whether by law or by descent: parent, child, sibling, grandparent, grandchild, aunt, uncle, cousin, spouse, in-law, domestic partner, a person in a committed intimate relationship. After the death of a BECU member, any family member of the decedent is eligible for membership for 36 months after the date of death. After the death of a person who had been eligible for membership, such person's family member is eligible for membership indefinitely.
